Natural Beauty

Over the Easter Weekend I had an itch to do some headshot work.  A quick call-out on Facebook and I was able to have Amy and her daughter Valerie visit the studio.  On short notice there wasn’t time for hair and makeup which at first I admit was challenging to find the right look and pose to go with.  I decided to try something new and include a posing table (aka narrow bookshelf with cutting board top and white foam core for light bounce) with a single beauty dish and charcoal seamless.  Including the posing table allowed me to incorporate hand positioning into the shot.  While shooting and directing Amy I tried to remember the do’s and don’ts of hand positioning by Joe Edelman.

The image was converted to black and white in Lightroom 5, dodged and burned in Photoshop with a high pass filter for sharpness.

In the end I’m pleased the shots were done without hair and makeup
